At a local pond I used a pantyhose net to collect daphnia, cyclops, mosquito larvae and other small critters to feed my scarlet badis. I strained it through different sized mesh and now have some in clean de chlorinated tap water, however I see a whole lot of small round green forms in there (see pic). Is this green water algae spore or something? Am I asking for trouble adding this to my tank, or will my regiment of CO2, daily excell dosing and decent flow keep it from being a problem? If you know what this is or have experience with it I would like to hear your experience. image.jpg I don't see a practical way to separate these green things from the micro fauna as they are about the same size.

Can't tell without closer inspection but it does resemble cyanobacteria. I do know people who harvest daphnia with no problems but it is possible to introduce unwanted protozoans. I personally culture my own , when needed. They are easy ....
