Question before kuhlis

Not sure how much this counts as silly, but IME they learn fast when it comes to food. I often see some of mine eating directly from the tea steeper I feed frozen foods with, at the very top of the water.

Oops. When I was cleaning out the tank the other day I pulled 1 of my pieces of cholla wood and put it in the bucket to vacuum under it but forgot that the kuhlis could fit in it. So had 1 swimming in an inch of water. Ended up having to close up the sink and gently dumping him into my hand to get him back into the tank.

At one time I had kuhli, blue botia, clown and even some hillstream loaches all in the same tank.... you could say I had a loach problem.... ?
Other than the kuhli's staying hidden 80% of the time.... even when they did swim up and around, never had a problem with leaping or feeling the need to cover the gaps.

I dont even use the plastic part that you can cut to fill the last 2 inches of the top in the back of the glass lids... only problem I ever had was with cichlids -- only once had a smaller fish jump up and onto the glass lid trying to get away from a bully.

Yeah, nobody seems to be jumpers. This was a forgot to tilt to give him a chance to get out before I took the wood out.

I've had something similar happen when I was redoing the aquascaping of the tank, except that the kuhli loach in question ended up in a tote box as opposed to the sink. Definitely would recommend to shake kuhlis out of decor before removing it from the tank.
