Question for all fish experts!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
An aro is probably not the best choice for a tank this size. Especially with the large messy predators you already want to keep. And a single bala will be living full of stress around all of these predators. These sharks do better in numbers of 3 and above (shoaling species).
With these large predators/messy eaters on your wish list, I'd recommend going to wet/dry filtration simply for the large bio-filter capability. The pump needs to be able to handle 950 to 1200 GPH at a 4ft head to keep ahead of these heavy waste-makers. This setup will allow you to only have to do a water change/gravel wash once a week instead of the 2-3 times a week your current setup will require with this bio-load.

kk, sorry im not used to this i have had much fish but for starters how many fish could i fit in here with out over populating it?

and i actully dont know what i want yet. all i know is i have a 4 - 7 inch red oscar not sure some where in that area but i dont want my tank to be stressfull but the arrowana and bala shark look awsome.

o yea. my tank came with a gravel filter also

What do you think would be a proper mixture of fish for my tank? in your oppinion?

Maybe someone else can answer that for you. I never post species recommendations since I don't want to be blamed for any buyer's regrets later on.
But, check around for what blows your hair back and we'll help you in getting you the info for those species so you can properly maintain and enjoy them.
And, here's an idea on improving the functionality of your UGF. It's a technique I got from Dr. S. Spotte. The filter pad adds 800% more surface are for beneficial aerobic bacteria to adhere to, prevents sludge from getting to, and clogging, beneath the plates, keeps gravel from clogging the slots, and provides an excellent anchoring medium for plant roots.
