Question for all you HDTV junkies!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
X2 on crap weather. Rain, ice, snow if it sux outside it sux even worse being stuck inside with no friggin tube. If the trees around my house grow any more I'm gonna be screwed.

ok so ive been looking at comcast and directv packages. it seems as though comcast doesnt have as many HD channels as direct tv and their prices are still through the roof.

downside is that direct tv has all these funny little terms and conditions w/ their pricing! i dont trust any of these guys!

This is for DirectTV. sounds kinda fishy. it dont even say what the regular price will be after 12 months and it sounds like you have to submit a rebate every month in order to get the advertised price.

BILL CREDIT/PROGRAMMING OFFER: Upon DIRECTV System activation, customer will receive redemption instructions (included in customer’s first DIRECTV bill, a separate mailing or, in the state of New York, from retailer) and comply with the terms of the instructions. Rebate begins 6-8 weeks after receipt of rebate form online or by telephone. Time and duration of promotional price depends on redemption date. Account must be in “good standing,” as determined by DIRECTV in its sole discretion, to remain eligible. DIRECTV not responsible for late, lost, illegible, mutilated, incomplete, misdirected or postage–due mail. Limit one bill credit offer per account. IF, AFTER 12 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS (3 MONTHS FOR HBO, STARZ and SHOWTIME), CUSTOMER DOES NOT CONTACT DIRECTV TO CHANGE SERVICE, THEN ALL SERVICES TO WHICH CUSTOMER IS SUBSCRIBING WILL AUTOMATICALLY CONTINUE ON THE 13TH MONTH (4TH MONTH FOR HBO, STARZ and SHOWTIME) AT THE THEN–PREVAILING RATES, INCLUDING THE $4.99/MO. LEASE FEE FOR THE 2ND AND EACH ADDITIONAL RECEIVER. In certain markets, programming/pricing may vary. Package pricing at directv.com/packages. DIRECTV System has a feature which restricts access to channels.

I have comcast and it sucks. If you can get Fios you will get very good HD signals ( They run on Fiber Optic cables )

just checked and Fios is not available in my area. It seems as though I may be going with Direct TV. Do you guys there will be a point in time where every channel is broadcast in HD?

Yup...be ready for price jumps with direct TV. It's went up $10/mo since I got it. No addfitions or anything just random $5/mo more for the same shibby.

IMO Hitler is still alive and he's working with Direct TV, along with Mc Donalds and Wal-mart.

I think HD mandating is scheduled for some time in 09.

yeah dammit i hate these companies but what can we do? not use their service and have no HD?!?!?!?! they could care less.

so what's up with those changes in February of '09? signals are going digital, right? will that mean better picture? wont necessarily mean more HD channels too right?

Picture won't change in Feb 09. More channels? Don't know....honestly it doesn't matter cause every channel you're going to watch is allready in HD. LOL

All it is is just ridding the earth of more small companies.

Just get the direct TV. Can't live with it....can't live without. But sure as hell can hate them every step of the way!!!!

If you do get Direct TV...... DO NOT let them install jack shibby without you watching them.... IF they are anything like they are here stuff WILL get F'ed up....

There is no HD mandate bro, it's for digital signal broadcast, which is not the same as HD.

As of February 2009 all television broadcasters and service providers are required to broadcast in full digital signal. This has nothing to do with HD.

I noticed the same thing when we had a dish...when it sucks outside and you want to watch tv, you can't because you don't have a signal. :screwy:

Doesn't the comcast network run on fiber optic cables...only the line from the hub is coaxial...that's what I thought anyway.
