I have a weird situation and i want someone who has knowledge about wild birds to help. About a month ago i had my female zebra finch disappear on me. So i figured cat.. So today i replaced her and within seconds i see a mocking bird (i think it is) going insane at the cage trying to get at them. Well i shooed it away and went to run errands. When i got back my little female was half way pulled out from between the cage bars dead in pieces (sorry for graphic details). I have never seen bird aggression this bad from a non predatory bird. Why would the mocking bird do this? Why did they never bother the male who has been there for a month? Whats going on?

Mocking birds are jerks, im surprised it didn't dive bomb you when you chased it off.

Lol ive been bombed before, my dogs too. This bird was relentless. I wonder if its going after other female birds for a reason.

your female finch suckered over next to the bars where the wild birds could get ahold of her, that's all.

Wouldn't it make more sense to move YOUR birds inside where they wouldn't be prey for any outside animals or birds?

It is wrong to intentionally kill songbirds for any reason.

that won't do it. as long as your finches are making noise, it will draw more birds, the best thing is to kill your birds, not the poor starving wild birds.
or maybe you could do something stupid like putting screens over your cages.
