what is an umbees max size and how long does it take to get that big, i notice alot of people on here have them at 14-15 inches how long until they get that big

Mel had a male get to 23" and the female was probably close to 20". Umbeekings WC gorillus are in the 20" range. The max size is reportedly in the 24"+ range but because most people either don't keep them long enough (were talking 5+ years) the biggest you usually see are in that 15" range. Trace has a pair where the male is like 16" or so going into like a 900 gallon soon so in a few years he should have one in that 2 foot range. To get a male to 15" probably takes around 3 years but water quality is paramount in raising true monsters and keeping them alive long enough to see monstrous sizes.

They do get larger than 24" maybe not the domesticated ones due to the lack of proper living space or the lack of proper care of them. I've grown two umbees into the 16" range and it only took two years. I believe Gani might have "Komodo" which is a wild location z umbee that Umbeeking collected and brought in at 16-17" he should be in the 24" range by now.

as long as we're on the subject of water umbee parameters, any of you umbee owners add any salt at all? ive been reading about salinity of south american rivers umbees are found in. Although its all fresh water, if I recall correctly the salinity of these water bodies on average is a couple ppm, wich works out to around a teaspoon per 100g. Not much at all, just wondering what long-term umbee owners add salt vs those that dont.

aquarium salts you can buy at any fish store. a buddy of mine is supposed to supply me of a list of what each manufacturer uses for their blends, but the natural habitats of south american fresh water fish have small amounts of Ca, Na, Cl and Mg. Just was hoping to get an idea of if it would lmake a difference. I plan on keeping my pair as long as I can and I was looking to emulate thier natural environment and wanted to know if any experts had some feedback for me
