I'm planning on putting 2 tiger oscars in a 90 gallon and i want to know if i can add a ornate bichir or senegal bichir (i think i'd prefer a ornate cause they get bigger) without it being overstocked and still being able to keep the water conditions safe with weekly water changes.....im planning on over filtering the tank and if not the bichirs can i put a common pleco (i know they grow big)?

What do you recommend for filtering? i'm thinking canister filter and wet/dry

Give me some ideas on what filteration i should get remember that im trying to overfilter the tank .....

Thank you!

A canister is good as a mechanical filter. I would recommend a marineland 360 or if you want something really big use a fluval fx5. A wet\dry would be beneficial for your bacteria culture. I always liked the aqua clear power heads with the filter as an addition for bottom circulation. It uses a fine polishing filter for your smallest particle. With those filters and your weekly water changes you should be fine with those fish. GL

a nice 30 gallon wet/dry with lots of bio and a 900 gph pump would be awesome:D. you will olove the ornate BTW. i had to go get another:D.

Thanks for all the help guys I'm definitely going to go with the aquaclear power head with the filter i looked them up and i loved them i'll put a AquaClear 110 Power
Head, 900 GPH. and a wet/dry filter will a 30 gallon fit inside the 90 gallon stand? i dont want anything outside or looking like a mess ... and i would only want a wet/dry if i would be able to set it up myself and get everything so if you guys know any websites or videos that teaches me everything i need and need to know to set one up let me know please and how much it would come out to. and besides all of that does the 110 power head and 30 gallon wet/dry sound good and overfiltered for my very messy fishies =)

alright so i pretty much know what im going to do with the filteration but will the ornate bichirs and the oscars get along?
Assuming both are full grown, they should be fine but it depends on the personality of the oscar.

What size is your ornate bichir right now?

Start with the oscars first and buy your bichir only when the oscar has grown by as much as 6-7 inches. They should be bulky enough by then to avoid being chomped by the bichir assuming you want an ornate bichir with a size of 7" or more.
