I'm strongly considering buying two flower stingrays. It would be AP to AP same day shipping. As long as my water paremeters are pristine beforehand (there is a happy hystrix in the tank now), would I be alright dumping the rays in after bringing them home or should I undertake some of the crazy acclimation processes that people do?

Not opposed to anything, just wondering what would be best for a pair of rays after a flight. Thought I'd ask the masters.

With flower it would be a good idea to put into a tank alone.. They seem sensitive after arrival! A quarantine tank would be your best bet to get them eating well before you put them with your other rays.

If your asking about acclimating once you get the ray, I would empty some of the water out of the bag and every few minutes add a couple of cup fulls of your tank water in the bag and would do this for 20 minutes or so then dump him in.

They are not usually like motoros or black rays, they may not eat for a few days..

:iagree: I am no ray man by any means, but this sounds like really solid advice. On a side note....Madding....how many more fish are you going to buy!!!!!

Thank you for the advice. I've got a couple different empty wide tanks that could hold them for a few days. This is all just speculative for now, so I'll get something running once I make up my mind.

What Keep says. I would never put a ray in with others without isolation for at least several weeks, especially a Schroederi. Be sure they are eating well on a variety of foods, not just one.

If you do not have a QT tank then I strongly recomend a divider. The main thing as mentioned is they are hard to get eating. At one time I had 8 flowers I brought in and sold to friends. Of the 8 flowers 6 ate right away on ghost shrimp and the other ate nothing. Shadows female ate while she was here but stopped eating when he got her. So they are hit or miss. If you have another healthy ray in the system they will never get to eat and they will stayed stressed out. QT is the best because all flowers are wild caught so they could be caring a parasite.
