:iagree: I am no ray man by any means, but this sounds like really solid advice. On a side note....Madding....how many more fish are you going to buy!!!!!

I think a better question is...what do you do for a living that allows you to buy all these fish?!?!?! :D but seriously...

I work for the NYS Division of Criminal Justice and have a significant other who goes 50/50 with me on all things fish-related. We're also on a fish-buying kick because we bought a house in May and the US government gave us a check for 8k as part of a home purchase tax incentive. We used a good portion of that check to go towards this hobby as a house-warming gift to ourselves. :)

Once this tank is ready you won't see any rare species brought in from me for a while, it will be back to the mortgage with us...

Drip acclimation for rays. Put the box below the tank it's going into, then run an airline tube in as a siphon. Rays are especially sensative to pH swings. Too much too fast and you can kill them. After being shipped, they will already be stressed. No point to push them further. Adding an airstone to the shipping box while dripping over is also a good idea.

Adding prime immediatley after opening the bag will detoxify any ammonia that has built up.

Whether you choose to drip acclimate or add them directly to the tank is a matter of personal preference. If the rays have not been in the bag long a drip acclimation should suffice. If they have been in the bag for a long time then adding them directly to your tank might be the best way to go.

Never, EVER add the water from the bag to your tank.

Good luck with the new rays!
