I have a 265 gallon tank, have 6 muskies and peacock bass, pikes and a gar, they all get along fine, however i just added a 13" (same size as muskies) redtail catfish, some people i talked to said everyone will be fine as long as i keep feeding them all a lot like i do now, others said the redtail will slowly eat everyone in there haha...any recommendations/comments? thanks

eventually you may have a problem

I have no experence with that specific catfish but i have kept north american cats, no matter how much you feed them they will eventually eat anything that will fit in there mouth.

Well the muskie and RTC are just going to start picking things off and eventually eachother. Anyways the tank isn't even big enough for one why even bother with them. Get some pickerel and sunfish....much cooler.

cooler than the muskies? i doubt it donkey, they are some of the neatest fish ive had....and the tank isnt big enough for one what? just answer what i asked, they are all a good size for now and eventually i will have another tank set up to separate them...

Well the redtail should get along because 1. It's around the same size. 2. It's new. But after a while it may become aggressive if it gets bigger then the other fish.

they'll get along for a while but eventually everyone will outgrow that tank. Muskies grow to be 30-50 pounds, pikes easily 15 pounds. the RTC will grow even bigger and as you know, they are all predatory fish so they'll probably eat whatever meat gets in the tank, live or dead.

And just out of curiosity, what do you feed these fish and what kind of setup are you planning to keep 6 muskies in?

Please tell me you are planning a several thousand gallon indoor pond for all of those fish. You have a bunch of fish that will all get over 3 feet. The catfish will get even bigger than that, but you would have been better off with a blue cat since they are north american. It would have given it a cooler look.

You have them packed in their tightly, I bet you change water every day.

What temp are you running? Seems those are from all over the board as far as temp range.

As for keeping redtails with other fish, keep it fed. I've kept them in large tanks with other fish with no issues.....just keep the food going in.
