ok well i went out today and bought myself a test kit. so when i got home i tested my water on all my tanks and got the exact same reading for all of them
0 amonia,0 nitrite,0 nitrate,7.6 ph. is 0 nitrate good? i do a 30-35% waterchange once a week. i use the API brand of test kit. all these tanks are over 2 years old exept for one which i got a month ago which houses a red devil cichild

is there a chance that i have a big boost in amonia or something since i have no nitrate i no nothin about this lol i would usually just go to my lfs and my friend who works there would test my water and tell me if its good or not

test yer tap water... cuz thats not normal.. "normal" is around 10-20%
even in my plant only tank ive never gotten a level below 10%

you sure you did the test right? did you remember to wait the 5 minutes and use the right drops and such...

I wanna know how people get 0 nitrates??? I dont think people understand for nitrates you have to wait at least 5 minutes, then check your readings.

I've never seen nitrates at zero, the best i'm getting is 5-10 and that's after a 30-40% water change.
If it's an API test kit make sure you shake the 2 solution bottles and once both solutions are in the test tube shake it again for 30 secs and let it sit for 5mins

since all my tanks came out to 0 amonia 0 nitrite and 0 nitrate and i have one that my fish are alwasy gasping for air (goldfish)

im pretty sure you have done something wrong
