I think he is saying he hasn't done a "set" percentage water change and that he has just been taking out as much water as he deems nessecesary, and he is saying that he doesn't do lets say a 50% water change each time, that he is just guessing the amount taken out.

im in h-town bout to go to the fish gallery. then im going to college station... i wont be back home tell around thursday to take pix. but i usually just add as much water as evaporates. i never done, lets say (msg to self)"ima do a 10% water change the end of this month"... for example.. i just add water to the top.. whats the scedule of water changes i should do like once a month or once every 6 months ??? and how much. my fish are allll happy and eat like little beast. my shrimp are even carrying eggs in my fresh water aquarium with my turt... i have pix under my username on here. the tanks look the same.. i need to add some pix of the 55 with the devil in it its all blacked out and looks bad ass, and my devil is 75% white! :) anyways ima enjoy my spring break.. see yall when i get home:cheers:

If he is telling the truth, I am going to wager that he isn't using both reagents, they are way too old, or it is off the chart so bad that it doesn't register.

^^^:iagree:^^^, There's some kinda nitrAtes in the tap water to start with (except wellwater sometimes).

The turtle is only a hatchling (a couple of oz's)he's only had for a couple of months and if you'd care to look farther back in his post it get's even deeper.
