Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of salt per gallon of water. But don't add the salt directly to your tank add it to some luke warm water to disolve then add it to your tank then turn up the temp to anywher between 79 to 81 *c that should clear it up with in a week or so but leave it for about 14 days to make sure you have exterminated the problem !!!

I keep 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons in my ray tank and they seem to be doing quite well.

so is not good to use salt in a preventive way ,and can salt be put on bichir tank
my ray mates

permanently?
this is not really a good idea for extended periods of time, f/w rays have no means to excrete salt.
Amazon rays are from very pure water with almost no saltsof any kind at all.
Not pemanently, but I do use it when I introduce newly aquired rays. I lost a couple new rays not too long ago from what appeared to be a white fungus (my fault for impulse purchase) and added salt to make sure none of the others got sick. Now I have just added a large male motoro to my tank (damn boxing week sale) so the salt treatment will stay as a preventative measure until it is removed by water changes.
