My friend has various species of piranhas and is gettin rid of some. I have a 40 gal. tank coming. are there any species of piranhas that I can keep in a 40 gal. breeder? can they be kept alone? is there a small species? I was going to get exodons instead, but I was just giving this a thought. I'm addicted to fish just like the rest of ya's.

what is a 40gal breeder, they prefer to be in groups they grow in a range from 5-12 inches and they are really cool fish.

the dimensions are different because the tank is wider. it is 18" deep. are there any small species of piranhas?

I plan on putting my 2 P's in a 40 gallon, they are RBP's though. My dad kept his lone P in a 40 gallon and it did just fine. Probably didnt grow to its full size but thats not what I am looking for.

I don't think there is a thing as a ''small piranha'' from what i have heard they all grow to be around 5-12 inches

actually, i misread what you were writing... a 5" piranha is what I would consider small. that's what I'm looking for. I should slow down when I read. what species of piranha is 5" long. That would be perfect.

What species does he have, that might be easier.
