If I want to seed a new filter from an already established aquarium, can I just put the sponges and rings in the tank or do they have to go in the established filter? I mean, instead of setting the filter up to run on the tank, can I just drop the media in the bottom of the tank and let it grow from there? Or does it actually have to touch the already established media?

:nilly:

The way I do it, is run both old and new filter in the established tank. I'm also curious if there is another or faster way of doing it.

Well, it's just that I have two new filters to seed and it would be whole lot easier to throw all the new media in the bottom of the tank and then set up the filters later when I'm ready to use them....if that would work.

I don't see why that wouldn't work. Maybe someone else with experience can chime in.

P.S. You bought a new AC 110 didn't you? I just got mines yesterday and I'm trying to seed it now too. haha
