how many bichirs can i keep in a 30 gallon tank? right now i have the big 8 1/2 inch palmas 3 inch albino palmas an a 2 1/2 inch poly sen. an i also have 2 assorted african cichlids the jack dempsey was sold.

I would go a little larger than a 30g for anything more than the albino, and even then its pushing it.

Absolutly(sp) Zero, IMO/IME Minimum non-growout is 55gal for Small Bichirs, and a 120gal bare minimum for Large Bichirs Check the stickies

lol thats great a 55 as a growout for a palmas an a poly sen. im not that dumb about them.

BTW, I'd assume to avoid the terrible SB Bichirs

Why you laugh at me....I think that a Sen is minimum 55gal 75gal is better and Ornates should have enough room to go back and forth.....Just because you like to cram em in for your entertainment Hao doesn't mean everyone should....Do I have to Copy/Paste my Apartment analogy again?

Can you translate that to plain english? I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or naive? :screwy:

I agree with Darth Scohin, although footprint is more important than gallons. 48x18" for the smaller species, 60x24" for the larger ones bare minimum IMO.
