why do my pair of jack dempseys so skidish now and so jumpy they pritty much hide in ther cave all day and then come out at night please help thnx

Adding dithers helps many times. How long have you had the pair in their current tank? What size tank? Are there any other fish with them?Add dithers, is what everybody says.
add dithers or a more agressive cichlid to keep them moving. mine tries to be lazy till my GT wants someone to play with
i have had my pair for 3 months thair in a 29 gallon tank and no fish are with them and yes they are very pretty
Just because they are pretty doesn't mean they are healthy or happy, they hide all day because they are cramped and that's what fish do when they can't go anywhere. And yes dithers will help (I've had success everytime) but I won't suggest any dithers for you because your tank is so small. And dithers are less important usually schooling smaller fish that the other fish focus on and become less frightened when they see other fish out and about.
