My mom is in charge of getting bettas for my schools octoberfest apparently they told her in past years there have been fish deaths from Friday night to Saturday morning.its about 150 bettas I was thinking since the containers are small and I dour they starve the bettas that the ammonia builds up and it kills them I was thinking I should put some of the ammonia killer stuff in the containers When we get them.any ideas?any thoughts to why they die?

Its worth a shoot. A drop or two of ammonia lock could work wonders.

A water change before the event or air pumps. Ammo lock would be the easiest. One drop in those little cups should enough. Too much might hurt the fish.

Well there won't be a tank for water changes and 150 water changes in the morning sounds long

Collect recycled milk jugs or 2 liters and make DIY containers simply by cutting them. Get a class of kids to help, easy.

More water volume equals more dilution of toxicity.

Apparently the fish come in bags and we will be making a trash can fill of ages water and will acclimate them to that water the night before with some ammo lock just in case

I'm wondering where they get 150 bettas? What do they do with extras?
