I just think sometimes the less chemical interference with the tank the healthier and more stable it will be.

I agree with you...i refuse to use meds unless i have to. Thats why my poor CK went untreated for so long.

I had to give it a shot, and it worked for me.
It is in no way a cure all and i have no idea what it can do as a bacterial fighter....but it does help heal open wounds. For that i'm sold on it. I've seen it happen lol

I've used both Melafix and Pimafix with success and without success.
All I know is that I cant stop huffing on the bottles.

ive used about 3 bottles of melafix. 1 small and 2 large ones. After using those bottles, my personal opinion is that it does not work as advertised. Its not antifungal nor is it antibacterial. Its more of homeotheraphic and preventive tonic
than a healing agent .

Bottom line is salt will do more help than melafix. If you see torn fins , mild cases of bacterial or fungal infection, use salt instead.

I do not use it but I recently tracked down and read quite a few independent reviews. Most agree that it is effective in promoting a good slime coat which in turn promotes a faster rate of healing of superficial wounds, This might be enough to defeat both bacterial and surface fungal infections in otherwise healthy fish. Clinically it has no demonstrated direct action on gram negative bacteria or columnaris fungus.
