Hey guys,

The other day, my gf was cooking some squid and I decided to cut some parts of it to feed my shoal. They devoured it within secs. Is it okay to feed them squid? What other seafood is ok to feed them so I can add to the vsriety in their diet. Please do not add shrimp, or whitefish fillets because I already feed them that. Thanks in advance.

Yes almost all kinds of fish fw and sw are fine as long as preservatives or additives are NOT added. Usually just water and salt, nothing marinated or oily, usually anything but white fish has more oil like salmon, therefore wouldn't be good for the water. No breading, no pepper etc. Just plain fish protein is always excellent.

No problem with squid , just keep it occasional for variety like you mentioned.

Interestingly my shoal loved those tubifex worm cubes , I once scored a kilo of those cubes for pittance.
It's fun though , keep dropping the cubes like throwing stones in a pond and a RBP comes to snap it up.

My shoal had 5 specimen and they would devour upto 15-16 of those cubes each.

Yeah, I was thinking of adding critters to their diet as well. The only type I can get my hands on at the lfs, is nightcrawlers. They are gigantic though, like 5-6". I'm going to try them once I get them settled in their new 210g tank. I would feed bloodworms, but they arent worth it because my shoal is used to thawed food that drops to the ground. Anyways, thanks for your legit input.

I have tubifex cubes too but my shoal never hit on them, along with krill. They take pellets so I can't complain.

And there are a few other Piranha forums out there, I just prefer mfk cuz a lot of people and threads. P fury threads die quickly.

Oh in my case , we are veg at home hence I couldn't feed my RBP meat till I saved enough to buy another refrigerator till then they went for cubes. Incidently even after a meat diet they never refused an occasional tubifex meal . Its actually less messier than cleaning up leftover meat.
These guys would gobble up the whole cube in one shot.

All my piranhas LOVE earthworms man. Just rinse them in cold water so they clear their bowels and its bout the cleanest protein out there.

Yea that site is kinda rough. lot of swearing and ignorance.

Good stuff about the worms, I just hate when they get lost in the sub.
