Its one of those things i guess. Most the guys on that site have known each other for so long now that its not a big deal when we fight and disagree. As far as ignorance, im not sure i track on that. Theres a bunch of guys there that have been keeping piranhas for decades, and even Frank and his OPEFE/ID forum. I mean, how much more informed can a piranha forum be? Even the planted and SW mods/guys there are pretty damn knowledgeable. And I promise its way more active than the Piranha subforum of MFK.

Enough about Pkeepers, How big is the substrate that youre losing worms in it? Maybe use bigger worms lol

piranhas are not fussy eats.. you can feed them pretty much all seafoods.

For some reason, the lfs only have damn nightcrawlers... I'm going to try a Petsmart to see if they have some earthworms. Would they hide in my sand substrate? I hope not haha.

Plus piranhakeepers.com HERE I COME ^.^

Little tip - night crawlers == earthworms.

Get the box from Petco, they're huge and last a decent time in the fridge. My fish love em.

My petco only carries the really small worms. The ones that are about 1-2". So i actually just go to bait shops and buy worms and leaches from there.

Make sure their not the scented kind for fishing, they contain chemicals....

And yes worms will hide so just feed a few to make sure they get gobbled up.

Got the nightcrawlers(Earthworms; Thanks for the clarification) from petsmart. Threw one in to see how the shoal reacted. They are still skittish when i put stuff in, so it took a few seconds for them to notice it. Boo (the smallest and the one that ALWAYS strike first) bit it which caught the attention of the pack and then it was gone.. Threw in another one and watch its disappear. Pretty nice to see them devour something new. I going to store it in my refrigerator. You think it would be okay and for how long?

If you have a decent sized shoal, you could probably clean all the worms and that'd be one decent feeding. Otherwise i've kept worms and leaches for about a week in a fridge.

Yeah, I rinse them in water and some of them even release their waste in there. Afterwards, they go straight in the tank.

I had fed my piranhas the following although they only eat raw unfrozen shrimp all the time.

raw Salmon (really messy, very oily meet)
raw chicken breast (they were not very fond of it)
raw tuna fish (they like it but very expensive in my area)
turkey ham (they really like it but I it's bad for them so I only tried it once)
zucchini (they ate it first but on a second try they left it)
carrots (same as with the zucchini)
raw squid (they love it)
raw T-Bone, brisket, etc (they love it but I know it shouldn't be feed as regular diet)

So pretty much when ever I'm cooking something new on the weekends I try feeding them a little piece of whatever meet I'm about to cook. I know beef meet and very faty fish are not recommended but I guess it's like pizza or hotdogs, we shouldn't eat them every day. So I usually give them once a month as a treat just like some feeders. For feeders I use Mollies, tetras, etc. Small enough to be eaten in one bite so the water doesn't gets very messy.
