hey that was a great link to the past! I just stared at the pic & was in total awe! I can see how you were inspired!

Discus Hans is where I bought mine - one of each variety he had in stock (imports Stendkers from Germany), look at Snoopy's recent pics also.

Also there is a highly recommended onliner in CA but can't remember his name, imports from Asia.

It is time consuming in that have to stay on top of w/c, QT, feeding & watching!!!

I had discus close to 25 yrs ago & only picked it up again in June. I get mesmerized by them! Someday I will be overjoyed if I get any to spawn!!

Go D Go D! I think you'll develop the D fever! once you're in you are IN!!

good luck! discus fever!

Be sure to only buy adult discus for a planted tank. Adults can better withstand changes in water conditions, which are bound to happen in a planted tank.

Absolutely right! While my juvies are in a planted tank, I am a stay at home mom and can do the hour to hour and a half daily maintenance needed on my tank to maintain the pristine conditions needed by young discus.

hey convict and everyone here,
I'm new to this sight, just thought i'd add my two sense, a 55 will get cramped for 5 or more discus as adults,( a good grow out tank for juvies though) in which i recomend, i say this only because it will get one use to the maintinence required to maintain healthy fish. if you want a planted tank pot them, much easier to siphon up leaftover food and fish waste, in which you'll get a lot of from discus. also water perameters need to be sutible for these guy's. lot's of water changes are also something that play's in . but once you get a grasp on these fish you'll fall in love with them, and find it hard to keep anything but. (my opinion of course) but there is a reason they call them king of the fresh water aqarium, right? and convict definetly go to simply discus and get your fish from a sponsor their.

You know i was thinking, that guy has a huge tank, like 125-200g? pretty tall too, also those plants werent there for a few weeks or something, his filtration is perfect, he spent well over 2 grand on his fish, i would never be able to achieve that in a 55g.

I have seen people keep arowanas with discus, but i think arowanas feeding habits and temperature are too far apart from discus, i think discus should be in a species only tank, like the one above!
