I looked them up and read up that they make a good food source for fish. I love how they clone themselves. I was wondering if they were legal in California and where I could find some. And how big until the cloning process starts?

You'll need to double check, but i think they are considered an invasive species in Cali...

But they usually start self cloning around 1.5"

I have one, it's awesome. Like what was mentioned above, check out if they are legal where you live. They are considered an invasive species, and they start reproduction after they get about 2" in length. Mines actually laying eggs as I type, should have a few hundred babies in about a month.

I checked and it isn't really clear if mamorkrebs are illegal or not. I've seen some websites and different forums with people who keep mamorkrebs in California. Do you guys know where I can get a few?

Laws concerning them, not illegal in Minnesota. If that were the case the Department of Natural Resources would have a field day with the amount of stores selling them. It's only illegal if you're dumping them in lakes or streams.

Does that apply to California as well?

Probably not, just says "laws concerning" not illegal. It just lists those states after that..
