Questions about resealing a tank for the experienced

That does look prety shoty lol. I wuld just remove the old silicon from inside the tank not inbetween the glass pains. And when you buy the silicon buy silicon for the construction of large tanks or it will leak I wuld look at the silicon comarison sticky. As for how to get a clean edge I always run a good bead smoth it out with a tool for silicon and use a raizor to clean up any ugly lines.

How many 10.1oz cartidges of silicone (Dow Corning 732) should I order, erring on the side of over-ordering? The tank is 72"x24"x30".

To reseal and get perfect edges, I use the as seen on tv Pro caulk. It's remarkably good, actually. I saw it in Home Depot a while back, and it has been the best 9 bucks I've spent in a long time.

The dog in the tank is funny. Not a great idea, but funny.
If you want to "re-seal" the tank, you will need to remove the seams as well....that is a major pain in the aft end as you often will need to remove the rim and base trim, usually resulting in it breaking....thats why I would have a shop do a major.
If your just re-doing the corners for aestetics, then yeah, stip of the old, dont disturb the seams(cut to deep) and re-apply the silicone. Tape makes a clean line and so does a straight edge and a little skill with an x-acto.
