Questions about Satanoperca acuticeps and daemon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have read about the difficulty levels for daemons, I picked up 6 3" fish and they seem to be doing what they do best, sifting sand non stop.....they are with my wild caught angels....

They are not eating yet...what to feed them.....

I have a group of 7 S.acuticeps at around 4" sl, a group of 6 Satanoperca daemon @ around 3 ", and a
group of 12 Satanoperca lilith at about 6 inch. Some points I would like to make, firstly S.acuticeps
that I have, do eat food at all levels, they also sift, just the same as the S.daemon do that they are in
with. They are eating all frozen foods, and also Tetra prima, and Spirulina promin. I received them
in a very hollow bodied state, in three weeks they have considerably filled out.

My S.daemon, must I think be teaching my S.acuticeps how to eat, because they are both eating
everything that's fed to them.

My S.lilith, we're the first fish I bought after a break from the hobby, they were around 4" when purchased
but 4 out of the twelve are now 7 inch t.l, which I think is tremendous growth. The 12 S.lilith are split up into
3 tanks, of four fish to each tank. I am considering buying an 8ft long tank, to replace two four foots, and
then put all twelve together.
I always have accompanied fish with my Satanopercas, in most cases it is dwarf Crenicichla, but I sometimes
have an additional Satanoperca in with them

12 lilith. I'm so jealous. I've been dying to find more to add to my group of two.

I keep mine in PA tap at 6.8 pH and 179ppm and they do fine. I keep them with geophagus tapajos red heads, crenicichla Zebrina, and wild rio nanay angels.

Hi, I guess I was lucky being able to get all twelve of mine at the same time. I maintain mine with a ph of 6.5, and a Gh of 2, I have good mains water, which comes out of the tap at 7.5ph. I use Catappa leaves to slightly reduce the Gh, and use phosphoric acid to achieve the ph level that I have.
Mine are kept in one tank with B.cupido, in a second tank with A.heckelii, and in a third tank with S.rhynchitis, they all get on pretty well together.
In all 8 of my tanks I have dwarf Crenicichla, 4 types of C.regani, compressiceps and notopthalmus.
I hope to get 2 more species of C.regani next week, I am doing some studies into C.regani and it's variants.
Regards
Graham

I have also found that my S.lilith are total pigs with fins !!

They will eat basically anything they are given, and if it's something like promin, they are after it in a flash, and scoff it down so quick that it rarely reaches the substrate.
