LIB technologies makes the best boards, IMHO
for the rest, I usually like Independent Trucks, Shorty's Bearings and Spitfire wheels...there is a lot of good stuff out there, so name brand isn't usually a huge deal. Of course, I'm not huge into skateboarding and haven't made many setups, so my opinion isn't that valuable. I did just assemble my daughter's first skateboard this summer, though. I wanted a good board, but not something too expensive. I ended up spending like 110 or 120. All of the assembled boards just didn't seem up to par. I didn't want to get her something hard to ride with crap components and have her not like it. There are some good sites where you can build your own and they're really helpful. The hardest thing is matching everything up and deciding what you want the board to do.
I bought my stuff form warehouseskateboards.com and assembled it myself...it doesn't cost much for them to put it together, though. Here's what I used: 7.3" Mini Logo board, Threat (by Zero) 127 mm mid trucks, Spitfire HD Blackout Black / Pink 54mm 80a wheels, Penny Abec 7 bearings, Wooster Negative One pink griptape, Sector 9 1 1/4" hardware and 1/4" green Krooked riser pads
