questions for the fh experts

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use cichlid gold as the base pellet for my blend and works well. FH do seem to do good with a pellet blend and if you can find some hai feng alife is a great inexpensive color enhancer. If you want to shell out the bucks you may want to look into ChingMis as well they love market shrimp :)

any ideas on a grade?

definately no A as his pearls stop halfway to his head. maybe B?

ehh why grade fish, kind of takes the fun out of them :) The thing with this fish is it can go 2 ways develop like we are hoping for since it has the potential or this is its big show, we wont know for a couple more inchs so till then if you like the fish for how he is then then he is a winner.

you are spot on mate. i really dont care just trying to educate myself on how flowerhorns are graded and how why they are graded etc. as thats the thing im trying to get my head round in this whole fh keeping as beauty is in the eye of the beholder but it seems amung the vast majority of fh keepers it seems a lot of fish are dismissed by the way they look or are formed etc.

plus it would be cool if the first one i ever picked out of a batch turned out to be a real looker hee hee

what are the two ways it could go?

thats a ZZ and a classic one at that. being a territorial fish, i suggest you keep him alone in a tank. an adult flowerhorn will need at least a 50 gallon tank. i would prefer to keep one flowerhorn per tank to bring out the best in him. happy fishkeeping

i get the zz thing but what does everyone mean by " a classic one "
