Hello I just bought an acrylic sump and I want to dismantlle it but I believe it has been welded together.there is no silicone. anyone know an easier means of dismantling besides cutting it apart?

I need to make it smaller and change the layout of the baffles

Any info would be great

Thanks

thats the plan, i would like to have it under the aquarium but I am starting to think of just leaving it as is and putting it beside the tank. Easier and I will have more water filtering through

ok I have cut it up and now it is drying(the silicone) I used a dremal and a jig saw. All things considered it went very well. Just waiting to leak test it and then I will let you all know how it looks.

who told you that? there is a reason why acrylic is never assembled with silicone. shure its fine to use inside the sump for baffles, but not as a structural joint.

the local fish shop. I guess I was lied to in order to sell me a 14 dollar tube of "aquarium silicone" I asked the SOB if it was ok for acrylic, he said oh yeah. I am PISSED OFF.

I just spent the whole day modding this tank now I have to rip it apart and start over, all because of a dumbass who works at Big Als
