Awesome Thanks everyone for the info. Now I just need to find the best sand for my tank. Anyone use quickrete coarse sand? I don't want to have it to white and the coarse sand is almost tan as appose to white.

Yes, I have the quickrete (brown bag, green writing) in my 125 gallon. I hate it, it's too fine. Pretty white color but not worth the grain size IMO and am changing it out for a local brand I use in my other tanks. If your on the east coast track down "Leslies pool filter sand", it is white and heavy (double win). We can't get it on the west coast.. :irked: But we have better beer so whatever..

I have only seen it for sale and it is garden safe which is what you want most sand is fine whatever sand you use just make sure no chemicals added but that is a given.

Most sand is simply different grades of sand with LOTs of sand dust again RINSE it well but always check to see if chemicals added .
