Okay, so far everything is going well with my Dat. Eating a tonne, acting well, everythings running smoothly.
My water temperature is 79. Lights on a 12/12 cycle... my Dat is 7 inches...
Few questions now,
How often and what amount of water changing would be ideal?
I've had it for about 2 weeks now and since day 1 theres always been food in the tank ( rosy reds, guppies and ghost shrimp ) I figure for the first couple weeks that having an abundance of food is good. So now I would like to slow down the feedings. I was thinking about 20 rosy reds and 10 ghost shrimp every 3 - 4 days? The other tank mate is a 7 inch Clown Knife so the meals would have to be shared amongst the two. Does that sound decent? This way I figure the food will last about a day and a half and they'll starve a day or two.
How often should I clean my filter? I used to clean my filter every month and replace carbon every 3 months or so, and the way I'd do it was clean the foam pads fully and thats it ( didn't disturb the "bacteria stones" or whatever they're called ). Only if the biological bacteria stones would get an increased amount of green sludge, I would clean it then. Does this sound about right?
Thanks!
