I've fed mine the frozen shrimp in the bags from wal-mart for the past 2 years, and never had a problem.

X2---I've used walmart raw frozen shrimp for a while. never an issue.. I also use their tilapia fillets--can't beat $6.50 for 2lbs.

Most grocery stores will cut open those 2lb bags of shrimp and dump them in their display counter of "fresh" frozen seafood. I've seen them do it to. It's the same stuff no matter what. I used to buy shrimp at the asian supermarkets, much cheaper than your froo-froo grocery store

I watched them do exactly that last week while I was shopping for thanksgiving. They were dumping the 2 lbs bags of frozen shrimp which they sold for $15 into the display case which are sold for $9.99 /lb.

Frozen Shrimp, tilapia, salmon, smelts and FD Krill sometimes stuffed with hikari is mostly what I feed.

+1 on the asian market if you have one locally. They are usually super cheap compared to fish store stuff.

Hey would any of you buy silversides enriched with vitamins if a "hikari" type company offered it? I find myself cutting open smelts and such to inject pellets to make sure the boys have all the vitamins they need. I am guessing this is a CREAMY thing to do.

Certainly :naughty: but i find the hikari siversides pretty pricey with such large appitites...

they never touched the shrimp, tried to feed it to my big guys and my grow outs and they weren't interested in the least lol, the only fish that ate it were my jurs, and it almost killed my smaller one, for whatever reason. so i scratched the shrimp and found some tilapia fillets, they seem to like these much better, and there way cheap compared to krill or silversides. i still think it was weird that they didnt eat any of the shrimp though, they all eat krill, not that big of a difference in look to shrimp, considering it all gets chopped up and mixed with pellet. now i got a big bag of shrimp and nothing that will eat it lol
