I'm putting in an order to Jehmco sometime soon. They have the Ebos and titaniums for a decent price.

Are you buying some for all of us?:D

Jason - was this a Stealth Pro?

I"ve been using them for a few years now and never had an issue I guess I've been lucky, I have the heaters and filter on a seperate power strip next to the tank and turn it off when I start a water change, works for me because if I forget I hear the filter before the heater is exposed.

It's good to hear you only lost a heater.

Thanks Jason.

Tom, I've been using Stealth heaters since they came out several yrs ago, and have also never had any issues. The problem seems to be with the Stealth "Pro" models, which are a more recent model, and which are being made in China.

yeah it's interesting you pointed that out...I've used stealth heaters before but they were made differently than these new ones. Never had problems with the old ones I had.

Thanks again everyone for the quick advice and thanks for the link thefishjunky. Just got done with about a 75% water change and all looks ok. :)
