I would do the same a Jcardona1, but wait a day or two and check the water parameters to make sure they are the same as the old takn. New water (like all new) can kill off some bacteria in the filter, which can cause it to go through a 'mini cycle' (considering all tanks do are continuously cycling, due to water changes, different bioloads at different times, so there are always times when you have bacteria die-off/growth) and may mess up the params a bit. I've also heard you don't need to do this, but it's always better to be on the safe side too.
This is the same reason they say to rinse off your filter in the tank water that you pull out of your tank when doing a WC and cleaning the filter at the same time, as fresh water can kill off bacteria.
