Hey tried searching this.. I was unsucessful.. How are table shrimp nutrition wise for feeding arows and other carnivorous fish in general? and would using Table shrimp be a bad idea for a base food?
Thanks

do u mean prawns? then yeap, they are great... good for color too! varried diet is always best, but prawns are my fish's main staple diet....

Aquick question from me on prawns as well, I feed my silver, ready cooked and peeled prawns from the supermarket, they come frozen and just thaw them before feeding. Anyone else do that, or am I way off the mark?

Mike.

PS By the way, in just waiting for the lights to arrive for my new tank, then I will post some pictures, still really excited!!!

raw prawns is always best. once the prawn is cooked the nutrient values are all gone.

It's also not a bad idea to enrich them as well. Either soak them in a vitamin mix or inject it right into the prawns.

I soak the prawns in a vitamin mix first, then put them in, where do you get raw ones from then? As all I see in my lfs is Lance fish, cockles mussels, and I already alternate these for my aro.

get them at a supermarket. It will be a lot cheaper.

Yeah, soaking them works too.

I buy them from the fish market. You can get shrimp from wholesale clubs too, like Sam's and Costco...just make sure it's the raw kind. You probably won't find shrimp, but you can check bait shops for foods too. I buy my clams, shiners, and herring there.

bait shops are great and cheaper than the grocery store...also try to get crayfish/crawfish if you can, just be sure to cut off the sharp parts (horn, tail) before feeding
