To me the OP reads that he already had the other fish and was wondering if he could add a gar with them.
 
Guys I understand that you think that I ignored your advice... This would have been true if the gar was 10 inches and not closer to 6.5 or 6.25 inches. Ive rearanged the tank added/ subtracted some decorum, done a water change (and doing another today), blacked out the sides of my tank, and am supplying a good number of healthy gutload feeder fish. I stayed with them literally from 6 30 pm till 1:00 A.M. Not one fight .I woke up and they were still fine, no disturbances and I cant wait to go home from school today and watch them. Also it was a good deal and i couldnt pass it up.

Most of all... they will be there for maximum 7-10 days!
