QUICK HELP PLEASE!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i do feed pellets they only like koi pellets. i guess she likes given them a pinch of flakes while im at work, and no its not the other O hes much smaller and knows the big is boss. did a good vacuum and a 10% change gunna do 2 more 10% changes tomorrow just kinda iffy about it because the tanks divided and the other sides got my baby silver arrowana i just got 4 days ago so im thinken this might stress it the hell out?

Is it a big tank?
Ill get flamed im sure but im my little experience, girlfriends love to feed..they're helping.
Haha. They can complain about the tanks in the way, but also want to be involved when they want to be. Im just joking, kinda, so dont jump on me ha

Wait you have a brand new fish in there that hasn't been QT'ed?!?!!

not 10% changes... 50% changes.

And HIDE the food. Only one person feeds the fish. Either you do, or she does. You decide.

I run the tanks in my house, but like your girlfriend, my husband wants to help. Fine he can feed one each day, and he gets to pick which one he feeds, but he knows he doesn't just go around randomly feeding the tanks or else he can also go around randomly cleaning them.

no need to quarintine the arrow since he comes from very reliable stock. its a 100gal tank with plexi glass divider down the middle two separate filters but still there is water exchange between the two sides. yes i know the tank is way to small for all three fish but the O's are only 4 and about 6 -7 inches big and the arrows 3 inches and yes i have a bigger tank when the time comes. so you say 50% water changes wont mess with my arowana?

and i feed the fish but i work 10 hour days and the O's are like dogs when it comes to begging for food so i could see why she would give them a pinch

dont worry just to a water change and everything will be alright. oscars heal very rapidly and in no time he wil look as good as new ;)

did the 50% water change and now this what is it? looks like his gill is flipped out a bit on the bottom. this is stressing me out

I'd stop feeding them koi pellets and start feeding a high quaility cichlid pellet. Most koi pellets have a lot of grain products in them and cichlids can't break those down effectively. It just ads to the waste in the water without benefitting the fish. They will eat other pellets, you just may have to let them go hungry for a few days. Flakes to fish that size is like us chewing gum in terms of statisfying hunger - sure it tastes good, but I'm still hungry.

Nice looking O, is he wild caught?

i mix a lot of cichlid pellets in with the koi pellets and thats the only success iv had getting them to eat anything else but blood worms or the odd minnow. any ideas on this flipped gill?

all territory issues. flaring the gills is like a dog growling, their way of saying go away.... if your having trouble already in a 4 foot tank chances are its gonna get much worse in terms of agression w/ the 2 oscars.
