In the near future I will be purchasing a T5HO lighting fixture. It will not be compatible with my current aquarium lid. What type of lid do you put on your aquarium that does not interfere with lighting but also keeps escape artist fish in the aquarium?

Sorry for the stupid question

Thanks in advance!

I know it's a pretty stupid question but does no one have anything to say? Should I just fabricate my own out of tupperware container lids?

Hey,

Sometimes you need to give the MFK'ers a few days to answer so be patient!

I would suggest that you are hard set on a cover you go with just a glass lid, which is pretty easy to obtain from any glass shop. If you do decide to go this way make sure you shop around for best price although it shouldn't be too expensive depending on how big of tank we are talking. I see on the bottom you have a 10G and a 55G, guessing on the stock I would be thinking the 10G?

Also I don't know how hard bent you are on having a lid, I have an open tank and have had no problems with escaping fish with it. If you are worried and have the tank open keep the water level down slightly. The only downfall you would have is keeping up with the evaporation.

If you arn't set on the type of lighting, and indeed it is going on your 10G tank you could look into fixtures that attach to the back and hang over top. These arn't made for planted tanks but still do the trick fine.

Anyways I hope this was a tiny bit helpful, and maybe threw some ideas into your head. If you have any questions they can be directed at me through my Inbox!

Good Luck,

J

Haha sorry for the impatience. Thanks for the help. I was really talking about the 55gallon. I know that the ropefish will escape if i leave the aquarium uncovered.
