1 min and 37 seconds = 1.62 mins

So 10gal in 1.62mins means you're getting around 370gph at 6' head.

Thanks for posting the review. Flow rate seems pretty good. The capacity looks a little smaller than I expected and the proportions seem a little off (the hose attachments look huge in comparison to the media capacity). It's hard to tell from the pic - where does the pump draw in water from? Are there holes along that central shaft or just at the bottom? The media layout makes it look like a vertical flow canister but that central shaft makes it look like water would be drawn in horizontally.

There are holes in the shaft.
Thank you for fixing my calculations.

I ordered mine a 7 days ago, it should be here any day now... and now im not that excited looking at those pictures... it just doesnt seem like I can do much with the internals, without baskets theres not much options for the media types.I hope that my hose clamps dont suck. I'll post my opinion when I get it.

Quick update, no more leaks. It was user error, the gaskets got pushed out of place because the hose was so snug. Vaseline and being careful, redid the hosing.

Also the top started to leak due tome not tightening down the screws enough, it just looked so fragile, but that too is now fixed.

All and all, it's decent, but for a few more bucks you can the sun sun, or a used name brand.

Thanks for reading, will update if I have anymore problems or concerns.

Okay I got mine today, I'm going to hopefully add more information later, but here is my initial take on it after playing around with it for an hour tonight.

this is the quick release button, the instructions were vague about how it works, you have to press it in and then pull up the red valve attachment up. it is very tight and sturdy once locked in.
SANY0655.JPG
the quick release is spring loaded and requires some force to press
SANY0656.JPG
shut-off valve from the side shows the gradient
SANY0662.JPG
fully open position, valve was very tight to operate

return nozzle has to rotating ball joints, the final one is loose and leaks a bit when the filter is running
SANY0674.JPG
the hose clamps seem a bit too small and will require pliers to put on as most people will have a hard time clamping them together with their bare hands.

the power cord disconnect is a nice feature

here is a video of a test run in my bathroom sink...

overall, its a rather nice, powerful filter. It lacks trays which allow you to customize your media and I plan to cut small cup holes in the white foam and stuff it with seachem matrix, I am also thinking about mixing more matrix with the bio balls. the top blue foam pad is going to need more frequent maintenance. there is not divider between the blue pad and the water intake hole. there is only one small divergent hole on the side of the hole to allow the water to spread to the center of the blue mesh... I will have to modify this somehow as well, some sort of spacer between the two.

I am putting this filter in an overstocked 55 gallon tank, which should give me a turn over rate of 9 tanks per hour

Tanks for the info guys!

hmph. it looks alright.
It's got the features I look for in a canister.
Not self priming tho.
Life span will be the final question I guess
but at that price it only needs to make it about 6years
to keep up with the old school models.

Im watching, but Im skeptical. Im willing to spend a little more money for peace of mind. Im away from home alot so I want something I know is reliable. Plus I like to keep all my filters the same, as much as possible, because my wife tanks care of them when Im gone and I dont like to have to teach her new equipment.
