I was wondering what are some good tank mates for these kind of fish? i know they dont get SO big so they should be capable to live with almost anything right? what do some of you have with yours? and i was wondering what is the growth rate of these? im currently feeding Bloodworms (frozen), tryed shrimp pellets not sure if they ate, and some cichlid sticks. Thanks

Don't put them with Knives or other fish that use electro-location. Pictus cats are sensitive to electrical fields produced by all living things in the tank. When I would feed my Clown Knives and they would turn on the electro-location, my pictus cat would go nuts. He started attacking my knives when they would try to eat. I had to move him to my cichlid tank. He has been doing fine there.

We just got ours recently, but so far they're living happily in a freshwater tank with gouramis, a rainbow shark, a needlefish, and some plecos.

I wouldn't put them in a tank where a fish could possible fit them in their mouth. They have a sharp spine on their dorsal and pectorals that is really painful to you fingers and other fish's mouths.

and NEVER catch them with a net! Their spines easily become entangled and can break off. Use a plastic cup or jug to catch them.

If you use a large brine shrimp net and corner them and are smooth, they you don't have problems, atleast I haven't.

Severums, Fire mouths, Cupids, Rams, Keyholes and Parrots should all be fine with them.

I have mine with a small datnoid, a Bluegill sunfish, a ghost knife, and a pleco.

Mine are about 6-7" and live in a 135 with Red Hook Silver dollars, Clown Loaches, Tiger Barbs, Bristle Nose Plecos, ECT. You get the idea. ;)

They eat ANYTHING they can fit in thier mouths. But mine never go to the top to eat so I make sure that food makes it to the bottom for them. I feed Shrimp pellets, Crisps instead of flakes, frozen brine and bloodworms, they will even eat the small pieces of veggies that the Hooks and Plecos leave behind!

Ive got my Pictus in a tank with a Convict, Paratilapia Bleekeri, Pleco and Tiger Barbs. The Convict can harass him sometimes but the Pictus is a pretty hardy fish and surprisingly will even chase the Convict and Tiger Barbs a little.
