Quick Question About Pictus Cats

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Got two in my 55 with two JD, a plec and some giant danios; so far no problems!

believe it or not, i keep mine with exodons. they clean up after them and the 2 species never mess with one another.

I have three Pictus (they prefer groups and do better in one) in a 55 with a Gold Severum, Kribensis and 3 Silver Dollars. They are great fish to watch. We started with one and it was as boring as the substrate. When we found 2 more we liked the looks of and added them, the three have been none stop entertainment.

Good Cichlid tanks mates: Severum, Rams, Keyholes, Acaras (smaller ones at least, True Acaras can get up to 11 inches and can make an attempt to eat a Pictus), Festivum, Kribensis

OBIO

My 4-line was fine with all untill he got bigger. Now he's 7 inches long, territorial as heck and eats any fish under 2 inches. I've had him a long time, though. So i love the big fella. If I were to put him in the tank with my adonis, there would be trouble, however, he only messed with my king tiger once.

Have kept with severums, jd, nica, silver dollars, columbian shark(when smaller) and plecos with no problem. Just make sure some food gets past other predators.

My three, I had four but the largest one died about 6 months ago, he was about 6-7 inches, are with a Black Aro, Midas, SD, Pike, Convicts, Sevs, Green Terror, Fire Mouth, 2 Seng. Birchers, a Chocolate Cichlid, a 7-8 inch Suncat (he will be relocated as he gets bigger).
