Quick Question About State Legality For Arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I knew there was a list around here somewhere but wasn't sure if it was current or not. That list seems to cover the whole aro family by using the bony tongue name.

Well, that looks as official as it has to be....I wonder though, what it is that makes the silver any less dangerous to the environment than the black aro.

Thanks for the list pi-eyed. On that list I don't see:

silver arowana:osteoglossum bicirrhosum
But in the same token I don't see: asian arowana:Scleropages formosus
Either. I'm not keen on the scientific name so maybe I'm missing it?

This is pretty clear cut and dry though:

Bony-tongue fishes (Family Osteoglossidae, all species except silver arowana, Osteoglossum bicirrhosum).

So only Osteoglossum Bicirrhosum are legal to keep in Florida. The Silver Arowana, correct? If so this is great news and gives me something to look forward to. :)
