quick question bout tank size

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
wish a mod came on early to squash the insults. if I may make a suggestion that I will be following myself in the next 2 years to ethnics... if you are saving up for a 240, which is typically 8x2ft in surface area, do yourself the favor and get a tank that is 3ft. wide. I just bought a 220 and I now realize that I should have found a tank that had more width. (i am housing a retic, a humerosa (i think it was labeled at guyana, and my research told me that whatever species it was it would be fine in a 220), and a yepezi on the way. i also have a motoro that will be sold in the near future as soon as i get it to hit the 1 foot mark.... i digress... save up for an extra wide tank rather than extra long.

and to those of you that jump down people's throats, you need to understand respect. I'm a DYS teacher, meaning i deal with juvenile delinquents... and if I am trying to teach them something, i never yell at them or call them names... you want to get your point across? treat people with respect. even if you think they're dead wrong or being ignorant, don't bring it down to that level. If your point doesn't get across, then at least you tried and you cant save them all... now if your goal is to be a thuggish ruggish internet regulator and you want to start these online arguments, then be my guest and sling the insults to earn your stripes.

p.s. RATM = greatest band of all time, I think I've said that before

Cry me a RIVEr.. i stated my opinions for a reason..10 G is a joke...

theyre are no stupid questions just stupid people...

i agree, especially after reading his other posts about how he lost a ray and didn't even test his water parameters! you can own tanks and gars and goldfish but a ray is different, they dont tolerate laziness!!! they pay the price for it!

the truth dont hurt. i asked for help tank wise, he went off to "im not ready"...

a 150gal tank is more then big enough for retics, they wont ever reach the width of the tank.

if a 10 is to small, jus say dont do it. she's so damn small i thought maybe it would work for a few weeks. maybe not. if i buy 4 more rays they would be big enough to put in my 150 so they wont get eaten. then over time as they grow i will sell 2 of them to get my money back for all 4. and by the middle of 07 i will have my 240 or bigger tank. im savin as we speak.

sorry but wrong again a 150 gallon IS to small for rectics(and any other ray) rectics have super long tails my rectics tails are about 2 times the size of there disk...rectics need a tank of atleast 30" and 3 feet is best(or you could just cut the tails off ya know:confused: ) so just dont come onto the fourm and say your new to rays then say they wont even reach the width of the tank cuz they will micheal has a 15"rectic...soo dont ask for advice if you dont want bottom line truth...its plain and stupid to ask if a ray can go in a 10gallon.. good luck with your ray..

edit:wow and your tanks only 20" wide...well the reason the ray cant be in a 10gallon is it might be 3" plus the tail and they need swimming space on top of that the tank should be atleast as wide is the ray is long...

so it's agreed nobody wants this guy to have rays in these tanks, correct? I dont think anybody but him is disagreeing with this... but lets see if insulting him will get him to change his mind. isnt that what we want? for him to stop killing the rays? i dont think the toughguy hardnose thing works face to face nevermind behind a computer screen. state your opinions any way you want though. if your goal is to go at it this way, then so be it, fire away, but if your goal is to show him he's wrong, you're going about it the wrong way...

my ray couldn't be happier at the moment. munchin on bloodworms n cut up nightcrawlers. im gonna devide maybe 20" or so of the 150gal so it'll be 20x20x24 cube til she's big enough to remove the split. thanks everyone.

Couldn't be happier? I thought it was getting picked on by your 2 Oscars, that your brother plans on keeping in a 40g tank. :screwy: :screwy: :screwy: :nilly:

Are we done yet?!

Obviously most don't read enthics re-posts.

Ethnics, Good Luck with your ray, bump up the filtering and do the best things for it...Maybe build a ray tank (low-wide & mean)?

And kody1192 others...how about posting your ray tank picks or atleast giving a background history/experience so we know where this advice is coming from.

I wouldn't even bother downset. Every time I have seen this guy post advice he is an ahole about it. Although half of the time he is right;) . I totally agree with you that people respond better to reasoning than getting b!t@hed at by some guy with 420 in his name. Which to me really sreams aquarium expert:screwy: Maybe if I posted :banhim: 500 times then he would listen and start being nicer to people. But I HIGHLY doubt it.
