if you cleaned the sand well then the could shouldnt harm anythinng at all. the particallys left are smaller than dust. theyll slowly collect in the filter or settle to the bottom and your tank will be clear in 36 hours or less. this wont harm you fish, filter, or any pumps you may use. its kind of like us in smoke from dry-ice or something lol. a little cloudy but totally harmless

i use pool filter sand in two of my tanks. it does cause the cloud, worse than some other sands IMOShroomMastap;4979430; said:shoulda done pool filter sandwouldnt have the cloud!
Walked in today and the tank is still as bad as it was last night. :/ don't really know hat to do now.
We just swithched a friend of mines gravel to play sand. We rinsed the sand for about 6 hours. Then filled the tank and added the fish back in. There was no change the first day, but by the third it was fine. Once everything settled we cleaned the filter to get the sand particles out. All is went well it just took a few days for it all to settle.
The sand will take at least 36 hours to clear up usually. The more movemnt in the water the quicker the settling as long as you aren't agitating the sand on the bottom. As others have said, rivers frequently cloud up due to seasonal changes. Murky water is aunatural, so the fish won't mind it too muck. Sight feeders might not be as able to get to food, but it WILL settle out.
Deffinatley turn on your filtration it will clear faster..... As long as you are not pushing the sand around
