Quick question on angelfish, looking for a lil help. So I've seen a lot of videos and pictures of angelfish and all of these pics seem to have angels with their fins fully extended, and open. But in my tank my angels don't seem to do that, they have no signs of nipping on them, they are eating well coloring up, swimming all around the 75 gallon, but they don't seem to be flexing their fins - they are young angelfish by the way. So is this because they are young? Or because they are petco fish or is it my tank? Also one of the angels seems to have a little issue kind of like Tourettes. It will be swimming fine, eating fine and they just spazz out for a little and then go back to normal, and it'll do this a few times throughout the day, she didn't do this when I first got her (him. idk). My tank has a few manzanita branches with lots of little protrusions and little branches. Did it somehow get hurt and now has brain damage? Also looking a little lethargic rn but still eating we. also, last question i promise, I had fed my fish ginger, spinach, cooked rice - only as a treat once a week - and dried saltwater fish, all in tiny proportions, is that okay? Thank tank also has, 1 severum, 2 angels, 2 bolivian rams, and 2 pearl gouramis (for a little while) and is at 78-79 degrees. - Thanks

In my experience angels don't extend their fins if they are either sick or stressed. How long have you had them? If it's just a few days then they could still be settling in. I'd check the water conditions and do a water change just in case. Possible theY are getting hassled by the tankmates too, most likely the gouramis.
Not sure about the one freaking out, could be a sign of parasites, if they are from petco then it's likely this is the case.
As for the foods, I haven't heard of this being fed to fish before, I woul:not but if it's not doing any harm then it's up to you.
Good luck with them, if it was me, I would get rid of the gouramis and Severus and get a larger group of angels and maybe a school of tetras. That would make them more comfortable and chilled.

The angels have been in there 1 week, this tank has only been set up for 2 weeks (I used filter material from another tank), I did a WC yesterday, changed out 25 gallons. The pearl gouramis are smaller than the angels and stay within themselves. If it is parasites what should I do? I fed them some ginger yesterday, they didn't like it much, but I don't think its parasites because then would it have spread to all the fish? And she's eating well. I am going to get a school of tetras, bentosi tetra. I was hoping to have a breeding pair of angels with the severum, and b rams, I have a thread on this on this forum posted not too long ago.

It sounds like the tank isn't cycled properly. That's a lot of fish for a 2 week old tank. I'd test the water and check ammonia, nitrate and nitrite. Cut back on feeding and do more water changes in the meantime.
As for the possible parasite,I'm not sure, there are medications you can buy but I'm not familiar with them. Hopefully someone who knows more about it can provide a better answer.

Are you sure it's not cycled? Because I had it empty for 1 week and dosed TSS, then added established filter media and then added the sev at the beginning of week 2 and then added the angelfish and b rams 4 days later, I have also already gone through a bacterial bloom and now my water is clear. Also have been adding more decor and BB from my old tank to the new one. Ammonia, nitrate, and nitrate are all fine. Also if anything was wrong with the water wouldn't all the fish show signs?

I’m going to guess it’s a mini cycle, bc you used media from another tank doesn’t make it an instant cycle that can handle a large fish load. Using seeded media is like a jump start, it’s there and just needs to grow to accommodate your fish load as it grows...your fish being added “all at once” might be to quick for the established bb to catch up.

you say you water parameters are fine, can you post those fine numbers for the members to see? This will better allow them and myself to assist you with your current problems.

you also say if there was something wrong with your water wouldn’t your fish show signs? Yes, and they are showing you something is wrong, that’s why you are here asking questions :-) their fins are not upright and one is spazzing...

your angelfish could be spazaming bc it’s gills could be irritated from built up ammonia in the mini cycle? Could be parasites? We can’t really help without the parameters. So please post back and help us help you. Also some pics might assist as well.

I'm not sure but it's a semi educated guess. I think it's just too many fish added too soon. The angels maybe more sensitive and showing signs the others aren't. Adding decor from your old tank is a good idea, some plants will help slightly too. I would do a daily water change and as the others have requested post the test results here, some of the more scientifically minded members will be able to help a bit more.
I doubt this is a terminal issue if managed well but it's certainly something you need to sort out quickly.

Alright, I cant do a wc right now but i will be able to tomorrow. And I have a feeling that is may be a parasite now, the other angelfish seems to be having the same symptoms. What should I do?
