Quick question on Kribs and Rams

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah I have a low tolerance for problem fish myself.
it's not so much they were a problem, it's that they are bloody STUPID loloolol I tried to keep a school of between 6-12 at all times and the same 3 kept killing the rest of the school. It didn't make sense for a fish that prefers to school, so I just said ''screw it, im not gonna keep buying them if they don't want tankmates"

All my dithers were eventually killed and eaten - danios, TBs, Platys, Guppys, Mollys - all gone. Just cichlids and bottom-feeders now and a few shark-minnows

They're cherry barbs. Seem really docile compared to most other barbs I've seen/had. I won't get tigers, I know they're a pain in the ass.

Red tail sharks are pretty consistent ime, generally mild when small (except to conspecifics or smaller catfish), but aggressive toward smaller or similar sized, peaceful species, especially as the red tails get some size to them-- which, come to think of it, is similar to a lot of territorial or aggressive species. Nice looking fish, great additions and not difficult to manage in the right tank, but best kept with fish large enough so they can't bully them, because they will if they can ime.

I've kept kribs and rams together with other, larger fish, including angels, mesonauta, oddballs, and even discus. No problems at all in a 4 ft tank, with lots of plants and activity, and neither species being the dominant or primary fish in the tank. Can't guarantee how they would do as the two main species in a 3 ft tank, but I'd be willing to try it and just be ready to adjust if needed.
