quick question!

I would much rather have a 55g sump under a 150G tank with Buiilt in Overflows then Hobs.

Also, If you don't want to build a sump You could use the drilled holes and Plumb in a couple of FX5 Canister Filters. And with the room under a 150G Stand you coupld probably put a 40B tank under their as a Quarantine tank and run a couple of Hobs on that.

and it was actually my own craigslist add, seeing if anyone had a larger tank that they could give away or trade for a guitar. and i got a response within 2 hours. they said its a 155gal bowfront tank with the overflow holes.

so far this sounds like it could work well, but from what i've gathered so far the easiest, also cheapest way to setup a tank with a sump is to get the 155gal and have the 55gallon tank as the sump. what else would i need to get it all setup? like what else besides the 2 tanks

Some glass to make the sump dividers, Silicone for the dividers, Media for the sump, Filter socks, PVC for the plumbing, a Return pump, Maybe some plumbing for the main tank.

We won't really know exactly until we know what you get with the deal. For that matter the guy with the tank may have the sump he was using sitting their. And then your golden. Just set-up, fill and cycle.

in the emails i had with her she said her husband has a protein skimmer and some pumps, i'm not sure if he has a sump for it. but if he has pumps for it it would make sense that he has one right?

That's a good question, If he's letting the protein skimmer and pumps go I'd assume the Sump is their. But then again if I let my 150G go, I would only let the Tank, Stand and Lighting go. the sump and FX5 are staying with me for future projects...

Mike

yeah that makes sense, maybe he has extra pumps? i sent them an email asking so i assume ill get a reply tommorow. but lets assume he doesnt have the sump but he does have the pumps. if i take the pumps and use the 55 as the sump, i would need glass sheets, and the other things you mentioned. but if you wouldnt mind giving me an explanation on the easiest and most affordable way to setup the sump how would you go about doing it?
