Don't worry about what you can get away with and many will come with different answers. If you have to start rationalizing then you should not do it and believe me you are not going to be satisfied. I have come to realize that myself.
 
Well I'm just interested in trying to have a center piece cichlid with some smaller guys in there to help fill out the tank and also to add more interest to the tank. I need to keep it in a relatively small tank as well because I'll being moving into an apartment come September and I really doubt any landlord would like the idea of 100+gallon tank on one of their floors. So I'm trying to stick with something like a 75 and even if possible a 55. I know a 55 is REALLY pushing it though if I want any form of a community.
