Quick Question

I have 2 convicts (male & female) they are inside a cave and the female has her tube out and is 'wiping it' on the cave walls at an odd angle. Its dark and I can't see any eggs. Now the male who btw has a big nuchal hump has his tube out and is 'wiping' over the areas where the female was 'wiping' hers. I still don't see any eggs.

Are they breeding? Does 24-48 hours for the eggs to hatch sound about right?

They are breeding and I'd think its closer to 72 hours. Could hatch if water is on the warmer side

i also noticed the same thing with my convict like 1 day before,she was also wiping the sides of walls of my aquarium and sometimes it laid one or two and some times no eggs per wipe because angle was not correct then she like adjusted her angle which resulted in many eggs per wipe so,i think that eggs come out whenever her ovipositor is touched by the walls and surely u got eggs out there,congrats

Sometimes the wiping is to clean the sides, though yeah could definitely be laying eggs.
