Say there is a vendor in the state of NJ which is selling piranhas and someone from the state of CT (where piranhas are illegal) wants one so they drive down to NJ to buy a piranha and brings it back into the state of CT. If that person was to get caught and get in trouble.....would the vendor in NJ get in trouble even tho he made a legal transaction in his store in NJ?

nope, I can conceal carry per say in WA, even tho I am licence to in WA, this does not carry over to OR, or CA, they have there own state laws. If i was caught this is not the person who sold me the gun, nor the state for granting me the license. YOU are the person responsible for knowing the law, not the vendor.

it depends on severall things, I'd imagine
1.) did the vendor knowing his location still sell him the fish?
2.) my other concern would be crossing state lines w/ a banned species is just as bad by law as owning or possessing one. That is something that you should research 1st, but I would assume illegal to own means illegal to bring into the state.
3.) Question 2 leads to more questions regarding shipping THROUGH a state that banned a specific animal, for instance IF Burmese Pythons are legal in Maine, but not in VT or NH, can you order them from another state (since all shipments TO Maine would go through NH/VT) or do ALL Burmese pythons in Maine have to BE purchased IN MAINE (IDK if they are legal or not in Maine, it's just an example since it only borders one other state.)
4.) If you have to ask if you should be doing it or not, chances are you probably shouldn't.

I think ur taking the question too far into depth lol....
The guy drives from ct to nj buys the piranha and drives back to his state where its illegal........theres no shipping involved

I guess the short answer is it is not a New Jersey shopkeeper's responsibilty to ask customers if they live in CT.

Thank you ....i was having an argument with someone and they wouldnt believe me

More opinions are welcome to help prove im right lol

Thanks guys

for a fish, it would be confiscated and you may or may not get charged, for a gun, it would be confiscated and in some cases I would be charged with a felony.

I'd rather know the answers to questions like that than just guess. Wouldn't you?

When i said in depth i ment u were confused to my example since shiping isnt involved

No worries tha ks for the input

If sau the vendor shipped to the person in CT then in that case yes the vendor would be responsible as well
