Hi all just a quick question, can rays be kept with catfishes (eg Tigrinus, jurunese...)? And for a small ray, around 6 inches in diameter, how often do I have to feed it?

Yes as long as the other fish are not bothering the ray should be fine. As far as feeding I feed multiple times a day at that size but make sure your not messing up your water quality.

Ohh ok thanks!

They are usually fine, but make sure that the catfish has a hiding place, a good one. I’ve had several catfish killed by rays. Even bigger cats. The rays just jump on them and start biting them until they are stressed out and die or jump out of the tank, or get their heads bitten off. With bigger rays I’ve had it happen on several occasions.

I’ll monitor them and see how it goes. If the ray starts biting the catfish then I would have to separate them. Thanks for the info!

Ive never had problems keeping my rays with catfish. I only keep rays and catfish. My big girl has never attack any of my fish regardless of her size. She’s currently 16-17” disk and I’ve kept her with 2-3” goonch without any problems.
